If you know me personally, you know I am an NPR junkie

If you know me personally, you know I am a huge NPR junkie. One of the best shows they have is This American Life. This particular podcast, “What Kind of Country,” which aired in March of 2012, is a thoughtful examination of some of the more extreme or unusual situations that can arise as the debate escalates over smaller vs. more comprehensive government, and covering the costs of government services. It makes you really question where the line is which divides “public services” and “personal choice.” It’s a terrific listen, plus you can put it on your phone, and listen on the bus. Bonus! Don’t listen in class though. Headphones during a lecture… that’s just rude.

In January, the student activities director at Trident Tech, took a group of our students to join with reps from the other fifteen technical colleges of South Carolina to a rally on the state capitol steps in a show of support for the Lottery Tuition Assistance program.

Soldier Safety Net – Phi Theta Kappa Project Receives Award

What do you know about your school? The College’s Alpha Epsilon Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa won first place in the annual S.C. Technical Education Association Student Community Involvement Project statewide competition for its project, Soldier Safety Net. The project assists veterans and their families with reintegration back into society by giving veterans and their families a place to find help outside the traditional offerings of the Veterans Administration.
